    Neri Oxman Neri Oxman

Neri Oxman combines breakthroughs in materials science (such as 3D printing) with design principles found in nature. Imagine a skyscraper made with concrete that can breathe and grow and “think,” or a death mask that visualizes a final breath. Oxman is an award-winning designer who looks to nature for practical design solutions. In jaw-dropping discussions of her work, Oxman will open a vista onto a lush, wondrous, and sustainable future within reach—one where technology and nature live in harmony. Featured on the cover of Fast Company’s 100 Most Creative People in Business issue (2009), Oxman transcends the boundaries between art, science and environmentalism.

Oxman is the Sony Corporation Career Development Professor and Associate Professor of Media Arts and Sciences at the MIT Media Lab, where she founded and directs the Mediated Matter design research group. Her group conducts research at the intersection of computational design, digital fabrication, materials science and synthetic biology and applies that knowledge to design across scales from the micro scale to the building scale.

Bernard Charlès has been working as the CEO of Dassault Systèmes since 1995 and as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors since 2016. He started his career in the company in 1983 to develop new design technologies. In 1986, he founded a dedicated New Technologies, Research and Strategy department, and in 1988 was appointed President of Strategy, Research and Development.

The inspiration behind digital mock-up, product lifecycle management and 3DEXPERIENCE®, he firmly believes that 3D technology is about making possible the impossible: 3D universes are the most powerful vehicle for testing concepts and creating the future, bringing dream and reality together, and stretching the limits of science and imagination to drive progress in society.

Charlès has positioned Dassault Systèmes as the preferred partner for innovation, empowering businesses with sustainable step-changes in competitive performance. The company, established in 1981 and world leader in 3D software, has been recognized as one of Forbes’ “The World’s Most Innovative Companies.”
